  • Long story short, yes. Tattoos hurt. The good news is that it is very tolerable, and likely no where near the pain level of what you are thinking.

  • We do not recommend using numbing products before, or during, your session. Numbing products can increase health risks, as well as result in a poorly healed tattoo. Such risks can include, but are not limited too, increased sensitivity, altered skin texture (making it difficult to tattoo), increased risk of infection, ink fall out, color alteration in inks, & patchy healing.

The best thing that you can do to prepare for your tattoo is to follow our preparation information! These instructions will help you become more preared and ready for your appointment, If you have any further questions or concerns you are more than welcome to reach out to us.

We pinky promise that tattoos aren’t as scary as your mind wants to make it out to be. With that being said, it’s perfectly normal to be nervous before getting tattooed. They don’t feel like butterflies and rainbows, but it won’t be the worst feeling in the world. You are welcome, and encouraged, to contact your artist with any concerns or questions that you may have.

  • It depends on your artist. Every tattoo artist has different policies, and timeframes, on seeing designs prior to the appointment depending on their drawing schedule, and comfortability. Please contact your artist.

After Your Tattoo

  • Please see our aftercare information section, and/or refer to the aftercare card you receive during your appointment.

If you have specific questions/concerns you are welcome, and encouraged, to contact your artist.

  • Soap; It is important that you use a mild, gentle, unscented soap. Nothing that has perfumes, exfoliants, or abrasives. These ingredients will cause your tattoo to become very irritated, or have an increased risk of causing a histamine reaction.
    Here are a few we recommend;
    -clear, unscented soft soap
    -dial gold
    -blue dawn
note; we do not recommend dove soap for healing tattoos. people have reported having an adverse reaction.

Moisturizer; It is important to have a product that you can use to moisturize your fresh tattoo. Keep in mind, you want a product that has little to no fragrance, as well as no petroleum (A.K.A. Petrolatum).
    Here are our recommendations;
-Hustle Butter ; vegan, all-natural, smells like mangos
-Gentle Lotions ; Cetaphil, CeraVe, Lubriderm, Unscented Aveeno
-Inkeeze (Black, Pink, Vegan, Hi-Definition Balm + Lotion) ; natural, vegan, little-to-no-fragrance (does smell good though)
Note; Avoid products outside of this list. We cannot attest to their quality

After You Are Fully Healed; Your Favorite Moisturizer
-Once your tattoo is fully healed, you will want to make sure that you are taking proper care of your skin! Happy skin = happy tattoo.
    Most Importantly; Sunscreen
-The sun can heavily damage tattoos. Especially when they are healing, but even after they are fully healed the sun can cause damage. Over time, the sun breaks down the ink molecules in your tattoo, causing that well-known fading. Sometimes it can even shift colors into completely different ones. Yikes! We all want to show our tattoos off, so having clothing over it all the time is a bummer (although still recommended.)
The best way to protect your art is to put sunscreen on your tattoo anytime you will be spending a lot of time outside. Lots, and lots of it!
We recommend a high SPF, reef safe sunscreen.

  • Until the tattoo is healed (roughly 2-3 weeks)

•no picking, itching, or peeling on our around tattoo
    •no long term direct sunlight
•no swimming, or soaking, in water
    •be cautious around animals
•no intense exercising, and avoid gym equipment
•no shaving, or other hair removal methods, on our around tattoo
•be careful with clothing choices, no scratchy, or tight fitting clothing.

  • Your tattoo will peel during your healing process. This is normal. The top layer of skin gets damaged during the tattoo process, and this is your bodies way of healing. Unfortunately, it’s also so very, very, itchy. DO NOT pick, peel, or scratch at your tattoo.

Scabbing is a normal occurrence and can be caused by a few things. 1) an excess of plasma building on the surface of your tattoo 2) the area got overworked 3) the tattoo is tooooo dry. Fear not! It is not the end of the world. Simply wash 1-2 times more often throughout your day until the scabs fall off of their own. DO NOT pick at the scabs. If a touch-up is needed, feel free to contact us.

  • On average it can take a tattoo 2-3 weeks to fully heal. If you have aging/thin skin, or a medical condition, the timeline for healing will be longer. Sometimes 2-3x longer.

  • Most of our artists offer two types of healing. Traditional (temporary bandage + washing) or using a second skin bandage (clear adhesive bandage that stays on for a week total). Please contact your artist with questions about healing, and they can help you decide what will be best for you. Typically, the healing method is decided at the end of your session.

Tattoo is fully healed! Now what?

  • •Make sure that you moisturize your tattoo! Happy, heathly skin = good looking tattoo.

•Make sure to wear sunscreen anytime the tattoo will come into contact with direct sunlight. The sun can prematurely fade tattoos, expedite the aging process, or cause colors to fade / shift hue. Wearing clothing over the tattoo will also help!

  • You are welcomed, and encouraged, to contact your artist to get a touch-up scheduled. We hope that tattoos will heal perfectly, but sometimes life happens. :’(

Our artists want to see healed work, and would be happy to touch-up anything that needs it.

  • It is standard for touch-ups to be free within 6 months of the original tattoo session, with the original artist. Please contact your artist for information.

Touch-ups outside of this timeframe, or with obvious poor aftercare practice, will likely require payment.

  • If you stop into the studio for photos, or send some good photos to your artist of your healed tattoo, you will literally make their day. We LOVE seeing healed work. Literally, we love it. Please show us. We would like to see it.
